I have no illusions about being a singer, but my voice has always been a useful compositional tool.

As discussed in my bio, writing songs was a big step in my compositional development. The ability to be able to sing a melody along with a harmonic accompaniment gave an added dimension to my practice.

The first composition is meant to be a big rock opera type production number with a cast of thousands. It is comprised of compositional chunks that were written circa 1980, 2009, 2010, 2012. This is often how my compositions come together. This video is just me and an acoustic guitar. It's clearly not the final "big production" item I have in mind. Use your imagination. I live in hope. The second is a recent recording of a song that I wrote in its entirety in the late eighties.

Note two things, that firstly, like all human beings, I'm not perfect, so I make mistakes and as noted on the YouTube page for the first song, I mixed up two lines and secondly, I change my mind about my lyrics.

I've not been happy about the use of the word victim in this song and fear that the point of that line, that it's a part of, might be misinterpreted. It's about the fact that my fundamental world view is that of a scientist and that I don't believe in any type of god whatsoever and that we're all thrown up out of the gene pool with no implied notions of class.
